Trish - you were in the car next to AE, with the engine running also.

I've been waiting for you to post AE!

Ok, so for those 2 nights, how much fuel did it use and how long did you keep it running?
All night for at least 2 nights.

Not sure how much it used, half a tank at the most.

We'll have to do the experiment and see how long one will run for.

I'll do it with my old S one weekend and see, as it needs drying out

Warm = 18C in the morning.

We are metric, courtesy of colonial rule.

Flights are cheap, just book with the national airline

Mmmm....there's got to be an easier and cheaper way to work this out - rather than idling a tank of fuel away.

So here's my thinking:

All we'd need do is let the car idle (with heating on, of course) until one bar is gone, this is our control point.

Start the clock!

Keep the car running until the next bar ticks down.

Multiply this time by however many bars there are on the dial....

Bugger, would this include reserve?

FFS Bokkie. Desperate times don't need such desperate measures. It is impossible to achieve a natural sleeping position in the S.

If your gas fails PM me and I will come and collect you. Mr Q is a passmaster at keeping me toasty.

Trish - have you ever looked at the Honda fuel gauge?

They would have been as well as using a weather vane.

Th fuel guage doesn't work like that.

It works out how many miles you have left based on the economy and driving.

Realistically see how much the car cosumes at idle using a flowmeter.

Does anyone have the EOBD installed? Does it give you a flow rate?

What sort of a question is that? Of course I have....it tells me when to fill up!

But it is pretty useless, I'll give you that!

So the Man from Malta seems to be taking my question seriously....
