Default Snow Rubber

I'm currently in the market for used S (finally in a position to buy after months of envious glares everytime i see one) and i've read a lot on here about tyre choice.

concensus seems to be stock bridgestones for dry grip and toyo's for a dry/wet compromise. being from aberdeen i'll probably stick a set of toyo's on at the first oportunity as it can be pretty wet and miserable here even in summer and the car is going to be my daily driver all year round.

i was just wondering though, if anyone had any experiance of any full on snow tyres for the winter? if so what make were they and are they worth thinking about?

No idea on snow tyres but Goodyear Eagle F1's are on mine and are fabulous in the wet.

Thread 1 - How does the S handle in the snow?

Thread 2 - Snowfest Pics (with details of the snow tyres that Euan and C7BLE are using).
You may recognise some of the locations

Just run a search on "snow tyres".

great photos....looks like a set of goodyear gw3's are a good idea for some winter fun.....

i've driven out towards the lecht in the snow a couple of times, good fun although i did do a full 360 spin in a clio a few years ago that was a bit hairy....never thought i'd risk it in the S but the goodyear's sound very impressive so you never know.

I don't know what the Toyos are like on snow, but if they are passable, you may not need proper winter tyres. They do compromise grip and feel in the dry and damp a fair bit.

We don't seem to get much snow these days anyway judging by the conditions at scottish ski resorts just now

It's just as well that ski rack I ordered before xmas was out of stock.

You could even read Euan's excellent Snow tyre section in the FAQ
