You're a looney!
Worn S-02s are too hard in the tread, even to be of any track use. I think you will be astounded by the grip of the soft compund on new S-02s. New S-02s are still crap in the snow though. Too wide at the rear. PS - pulling a fuse is a good idea, as ABS is lethal in the snow. However, you are technically "driving with defective brakes" so don't have a shunt with the fuse out! |
Brand new SO3s on the back a coupla weeks ago, and no problems in the snow here. Good fun so far in fact! :drunk: :rev:
That said, if we get much more it's gonna be tricky getting off the carpark here.. :) |
I wish i had snow :drunk: sounds fun :rev:

The old Eagle Ultragrips got me through Blizzard conditions this morning.
Fantastic in the snow. You should get a second set of wheels and put winter tyres on them :rev: |
For all 3 days they have snow, down south :rev: It would be cheaper to get a taxi to work on the days when it's snowing :drunk:

Fantastic in the snow. Went for a play in Tesco's car park yesterday at 6.30am..Handbrake tastic :( and all the time the S sits at hope awaiting the lovely sunshine :rev: |
I drove in the snow this morning, had a few issues trying to drive the slight incline leaving my culdasack, it really took a huge effort using 2nd gear and very gentle acceleration. The ABS issue is the same on any car I have ever driven with ABS not just the S. My Audi S3 could move a lot easier in the snow but was no better at braking. I find gentle application of the brake works fine. If it starts to lock just remove and reapply gently.
When I got going I found driving on the snow ok, and I am on S02's. Here are some pics of my driveway this morning. The snow is set to get a lot worse tonight and tomorrow so I may consider working from home tomorrow. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...9a0e8adf21.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...680daa7f4a.jpg |
what snow? all melted here in Amersham!

You can get by on the SO2s provided you don't meet any steep inclines, or you don't stop on a light incline. Best to make sure that if you do have to park up at all, the car is parked downhill.
The type of snow makes a difference as well - I have much better grip in deep powdery snow, than deep wet snow - I guess like skiing, "dry" snow compacts and gives you better grip. |
