Default The soft top

Just came back from a night drive with top open. Parked the car in garage and press the switch to close roof. Usually i slightly push the roof towards the front and clip one hook and the other will go easily. The reason a push it not to damage/wear the metal thing where the hooks clip on. Today I had to push it much harder.

The hood is probably stiff because of the lower temperatures. Just lower it and then raise it again.

C7BLE has a problem with his hood in that it sits raised slightly from the front rail. It;s been into the dealer, but they haven't been able to fix it yet IIRC.

Mine sometimes needs a downward pull at the NS in order to close the latch. From the angl at which one is seated, it appears not to reach the screen rail, but it is a vertical displacement.

It occurs if the car is parked on a slope, probably an uneven one.

I therefore assume it is bodyshell flex, rather than an intrinsic problem with the roof.

There is a Honda Service Bulletin for Soft Tops that rattle. The work involved in this may make your top operate easier.

The car had one corner on a ramp . I will try it tonight again and let you know.. I left it roof open in the mean time not to stress/force it closed... If so, Can I damage the car/roof leaving one wheel higher then the other on a ramp for a long time (16Hrs)

It's just that I have owned roadsters for many a year!

No, it's all made of steel rods, so it's flexible.

Only if you force the latches could you damage it.

Remember the Herald convertible

Park it half on the pavement and the doors open for you!!!!!!

Mark 1 Golf GTi - jack up the front corner, open driver's door, discover it no longer shuts

Cars used to be so floppy

Hood is fine. Nothing to worry about. Thanks for the advice guys. The car had a corner on a ramp. Drove round the bloke parked on a flat surface and tried closing. Everything as normal
