Default Soft Top

Hi

This is my first post. I've owned my S2000 since July last year and am very pleased with the car, particularly it's performance.

I have experienced one problem which is beginning to become an issue. When I fold down the roof it sometimes doesn't retract fully, in fact the first time this happened the roof was obscuring the view in the rear view mirror. I tried opening and closing the roof several times and eventually the roof retracted properly. However, recently going through this process the roof has been torn by the left hand clip that secures the roof in place.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Simple if its an 06, take the bugger back ASAP!

Use that warranty for all you can get

Easy fix - warm up the interior so that the roof material becomes supple. This will allow the roof to fold fully. No brainer really during this weather.

Edit - just re-read your post. Regarding the rip - get the roof replaced under warranty.

As above, it can be a bit of a bugger to go down when cold - poking it in the right place on the inside can help the folding. It certainly shouldn't cause any damage to the hood unless it was not fitted correctly in the first place.

Now you find out how good your dealer customer service really is ...........

I suspect you will get
"they all do that in this weather sir!!!"

Get them to adjust it and lubricate the frame.

It will go down easier of you push the top of the glass down and back as it goes down.

If you can try leaving it down for a couple of days to try and put some folds in to it as it is a new hood. I noticed my 04GT hood went down a lot better than my 06 or 05 car.

Thanks all, I'm impressed with the response.

I'm pursuing the warranty trail already but needed some feedback from other S2000 owners.

This helps me a lot.

It'll be worth your while havng a read (search?) on roof related issues as there are a couple of areas you should probably keep an eye on.

Im pretty sure the owners manual says not to fold it if wet, or in cold weather.
Not sure how well you can argue against that advise really?

I fold mine about three quarters and just give the edge of the rear screen a little nudge down, then complete the fold away. Its just not supple when cold.
Read the manual?
