"Solid billet" discs?
I purchased some Tarox grooved front discs for the S a few weeks back but when finally got round to fitting the bore size was wrong!! Eventually we worked out they had sent me the Civic Type R discs instead.
By way of compensation they said they were going to send me some solid billet grooved discs that would be in correct S2000 offset/bore instead of the standard discs i paid for.
What i am wondering is what the difference is with these "solid billet" discs? as opposed to the standard disc material that i was originally sent? Someone else has said solid billet is usually more expensive but wanted some further insight....thanks.

Sounds like chinese whispers.
Solid discs aren't vented. You need vented front discs.
(Standard Honda ones are 300m x 25mm thick. Which is a pity, if they were 295mm x 28mm thick that's a standard motorsport size, and we'd be able to get decent discs at a reasonable price instead of the ludicrous Honda price.... but I digress.).
'Billet' when talking about brake discs, normally refers to using a billet aluminium hat, with an iron outer disc. (The hat is the centre portion that mates to the hub.). Sounds like they might be planning to custom make billet hats. That's easy, but as I've said the stock disc is not a standard size.
It pains me to say this, but you're probably best getting a refund and going for standard Honda discs. I looked around recently, and couldn't find any decent replacement discs that are available in the UK (it's something like 24kg for a set of standard brake discs, so they're not practical to ship. I looked into that too - the Honda discs are much, much cheaper in the US.).

(I've ended up with a new set of Honda discs, which are off being plated to hopefully stop the rust in the venting and on the edges for some time at least. Still seething at the price for them. I'd type it, but if there's any justice the swear filter would blank the price out!)

Not necessarily,
I have just called the guy at Tarox who is dealing with my case (and another persons in Germany in similar position) -
They have the machinery to drill each side vent into the billet so they will definitely be vented. They have recommended instead of the 40 grooved i had originally ordered, they will provide me the superior 8 grooved pattern which they use on their high spec 10 pot brake system. He said that because it is from one material it will be stronger etc and their is less need for their to be so many grooves on the face.
Pics are on their website of the discs i have described above. The cast 40 grooved were

If the vents are just from drilling inwards, you're losing a lot of surface area and gaining unsprung weight. Didn't see any pics on the Tarox web site.
The number / style of groves on the G88's is purely cosmetic. In general any groves or drilling is cosmetic. Unless you're running exotic pads, there's no need for either. But that's going opening a whole can of worms on proper brakes (one topic there's been many flame wars on this site, but little accurate information.).
Still, it's your choice - and they're cheaper than Honda discs.
