Default Solid steering rack bushes

Just fitted. Took about an hour and a half (with cig breaks).

They seem to increase the steering feel slightly when driving in a spirited manner but certainly not a dramatic change although I've only had them in for 10 miles or so. I need to go and find a good mix of roads when it dries out a bit really.

We will see how they go over the next few months.

My old bushes seemed In decent condition mind you. I've had these sitting around for a year or so and decided to give them a try.

I'll monitor closely as they are solid alloy so may cause issues in the future but we will see what happens.

150 miles in and I like 'em.

A bit more vibration through the steering wheel but a more direct connected feel to what the front end is doing. It's a subtle difference but noticeable. No play in the rack whatsoever. I can only liken it to how the original mini's steering felt although lighter obviously due to the power steering.

Will see how they feel after time but I have more confidence as a result in long fast sweeping corners although that could well be a placebo effect.

I think I might give dixons subframe spacer/bush thingys a try next out of curiosity.

Bloody ell ! Gary you seem to like keeping the workload high. The subframe spacer/bush things are a big job, but having said that if you just drop the subframe down on the bolts I suppose it isn't so bad. I took my subframe completely off and had it seam welded and powder coated in which case all the suspension has to come off.A man of your means should have it done in a couple of hours tops.

What are these "solid steering rack bushes is it something I can add to the already crowded suspension setup on my car? if it can be fitted and there is a .00000.001 % gain then I neeeeeeeeeeeeed them

Yeah, the subframe ones look a bit of a faff and it'll need a geo afterwards so I'm mulling over a trip down to get Dixon to do the lot. It's getting cold on my drive

Thanks Gary, although the Blue Ones do it for me, I'm just about to order half a dozen Oem oil filters of Si, I may ask him to price me some Spoon ones up.i feel that I might aswell get shot for a sheep as for a Lamb I suspect my car will be noisy, crude, and uncomfortable,so I may just as well put all the bits on it to make it more so Only choking it will be like a pussy cat with lovely comfortable suspension, but possibly I little bit of a noise from the dog cut gears, apart from that it will ride like standard.

Have you considered Ray for alignment?if you factor in fuel to get down to Dixon plus fitting and geo its going to be quite an expensive job. I would say the back would be easier than the front as you don't have to worry about engine parts snagging when you lower it.Although I stand to be corrected the only reason I fitted them to mine is because because of the other work I'm doing its an easy job to fit them. There is virtually nothing to them and I would suspect very little to be gained by fitting them, but what would I know. I have a virtually unlimited budget( most of the big money has already been spent) and most of the jobs I'm doing now are because they are accessible.
