Default Spare wheels - for track or winter use?

I have a second set of OEM 16" in my cellar. They currently have 2 decent front winter tyres fitted, and 2 bald rear winters.

My dilemma is, Do I get 2 more winters for the rear, or do I sell off the 2 front tyres and get a full set of trackday tyres?

I don't really know how beneficial having winter tyres is. Are they really worth it? And does having track tyres really make enough of a difference on a trackday to make it worth doing? I am going to start doing a lot more trackdays now, and hopefully next year. But I just want some of your opinions....

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Are you going to drive the car as a daily between October and March?

Get both, it's not difficult to get them popped on/off so you can enjoy the track and feel safe in winter.

I fitted them last year for the first time, this year I won't be messing about, as soon as autumn is gone and the < 10 degree temperatures kick in, the winter tyres will be back on.

They were a godsend last year.

I don't see why you can't treat 'track' tyres as summer rubber for the car, have a chat with Dembo / Lovegroova / S2KNUT etc

Winter tyres is the way to go then I suppose. Thanks for the advice peeps.

Now, what brand are you winter driving lads and ladies using? Now is the best time to buy some more due to availability later in the year.

I have pirelli wintersports on the remaining 2 fronts. They any good? I've heard vredstein are a good choice....

Car is looking good in your avatar by the way, have you been giving it the Mr Miyagi treatment?
