Default Spats!

Lo everyone.

Just realised from looking at some piccies in the gallery that my car is missing the black plastic spats in front of the Wheels.
Does that description make sense?
They look like small mudflaps but in front of rather than behind the wheels.
I had thought that my motor felt quite light at higher speeds on the motorway and am now wondering if this is why?
Advice please folks? Now feeling just a tad concerned.

Those are aerodynamic parts, not sure how much difference they make though.

I call those things spats. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they help block/redirect air from getting underneath your tires as your speed increases for stabilty purposes.

reverse mudflaps.

They're ride height indicators that warn you of a potential scraping issue as your front end approaches a driveway or grade.

I think they're called strakes and they improve aerodynamics.
EDIT: they're not strakes. I'm not sure what they're called.
And YES they are called Strakes.

The side strakes are in front of the rear wheels and are painted the body colour. The ones mentioned by jasperthehorse are hang down in front of the front wheels and are black.
Dont know the aerodynamic properties of either

Do you mean these? Clearly visible in this pic hanging down in front of both my front and rear wheels?

...and indeed in front of your back wheels (if that makes sense)

Mine have come in handy in deflecting a blackbird but i agree that this is not there sole purpose, simply a bonus effect
