Spot the difference
My S and a colleague's RX8 (which he picked up yesterday):
Similar? Well yes, perhaps, but only one is a convertible and only one has an engine with a silly name
Actually, the RX8 is a nice car. Nicely specced out (this is the quick version) and looks pretty well put together. Looks really nice on the road, but I think there's already more of them out there than there are S2000s!

I was near one in traffic the other day, and gave it a good looking over. Not impressed. I want to be, as I think it could be a great car for my gf as we need a 4 seater, but its too fricking ugly, a mish-mash of disfigurement. I like it from the side, and the interior is nice but the front and back are :vomit:

A bit harsh, I think. It's certainly not a bad looking car and it *is* the only car in it's class - i.e. a true 4 seater sports coupe that costs less

From the occasional lurking I do on the RX8 board, I get the impression that there are some unhappy owners out there........
Mazda seem to have hugely overstated the mpg - 17-20 is considered to be decent, I gather There also seem to be problems with the car flooding on start up, which has in cases required the cat to be changed One guy has even had the rear windscreen pop out (twice!) of its own volition.
I was really taken with it when I saw it at the last Motor Show, and have been impressed by the ones I've seen on the road. But I'm really not so sure now that I'd actually buy one - or at least not without spending a few hours reading the threads on the RX8 board in more depth to see what owners are actually saying.

My two fav cars together.... which one I'll buy next I do not know....
My only concearn with the RX8 was after a lengthy test drive I left feeling a little empty and almost forgetting the drive.
I'm yet to take an S out, still waiting on a ruddy call back from my dealer

I feel the same as MT on this. At one point, I'd considered an RX-8 instead of the S. I'd changed my strategy to push an RX-8 on my wife, as a replacement for her Celica. After seeing some more of them, and reading their messageboard, I've gone right off them.
