Default Stagger

Looking at getting Rota Slipstreams in fully polished - 17x7.5 (front) and 17x8.5 (rear) to keep a 1 inch stagger... but aparently there are NO 17x8.5 fully polished rims in the country at all.

So I was wondering how much of a difference it would make if I settled on the 17x8 for the rear. Got all the rim and tyre sizes sussed but just not too clued up on the stagger issue.

Any help/comments appreciated. Thanks.

Many people on the US forum seem to think not, but its part of the OEM design and the suspension has been designed with this in mind.

I run 7.5 and 8 F/R respectively.

Stagger is something put in place to prevent idiots spinning off the road.

The car has a 50/50 weight distribution so it should have equal tyre sizes all round.

But enough about that, to answer your question, you'll be fine with 7.5/8 combo

As long as your tyres are staggered thats the important part I'd say.

Not really, as the narrower wheel puts the centre of the tyre in a different place. It may be marginal, but then suspension geo is about small adjustments too. I would be inclined to keep to the standard unless I had access to a qualified suspension expert.

Is this fact/based on evidence or just your opinion?

Chris.

PS not trying to start an argument just interested.

I wouldn't call it fact based as such, but the guys in the states in the trackday forum say on autocross days which is kind of like our airfield days they see big
improvements in lap times.

You do get a heavier steering feel but I haven't seen one person say they've gone slower by doing it

what kind of offset with 18x9inch wide wheels? Do you need any work to the arches?

I didn't no the s2k could run with anything over 8inches at the front without work?
