Default Stalling

Drove down to Dorset 2 weekends ago and the S was fine until we got to the smaller roads. When changing down quickly or sitting at traffic lights the revs were fluctuating between a couple of bars and 1k and stalled a couple of times.

It's now been like this for a week but intermittent, yesterday it was fine. Today it stalled at traffic lights after I'd been driving for about 2 miles.

I did a search which came up with ECU and map sensor. A bit loath to take the map sensor off again as we did this a month ago to fix another problem which was totally unlike this.

Took it to the dealer on Friday and they tested ECU and fuel injection and could find no problems - surprise surprise. They could not replicate the fault but I think the only way we can do this is if I take them on a drive.

Anyone had anything similar???

Try the MAP again - hit it and blow up it with an air line. It probably has crap in it.

Also, check all sensor connections are good ones.

Good luck, these intermittent ones are buggers to trace.

I take it that it is stalling whilst out of gear? so it's not clutch related?

Not had the same problem myself, just almost stalling as the idle sensor does its work..

I have found using Ultimate petrol is cleaner for my engine than Optimax. This may help V.

Another possible suggestion.
It sounds similar to a problem I had that turned out to, be slighty tight tappets.

Had the exact same problem with my car. I disconnected the MAP sensor and tapped it with a rubber hammer then also used an air line to clean it. Also had to take out back up fuse for 30 seconds & then replace to reset ECU. Leave the engine to tick over for a bit after reset. You may find that the problem still happens for a bit while the ECU learns again. After starting and stopping for a day the problem should disappear!!!!

Nearly had an argument with the service guy at Honda about that Nick as he wouldn't have it that you get hot air through (was trying to say I want to change it and not invalidate the warranty).

Got to wait for some money first
