For normal day to day driving I find OEM pads and discs just fine. For parts try one of the retailers on here - Si @ Hendy or Tegiwa. Always found them both to be good on prices and excellant service.

As for rust. Is it just surface rust because of lack of use? If so this will go when on your next drive

Edit: where are you based? I'm sur eothers can recommend someone local for fitting

Have you tried reading the "Forum Favourites" sticky?

https://www.s2ki.com/...brakes-tct-etc/

As well as Si at Hendy, have a look at Cox Motor Parts: http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genui...009-p-630.html

It seems the Honda dealers are cheaper than Tegiwa for discs and pads

Oem discs are fine for the road and ok for the track to be fair. Oem pads are also good for the road, the oem stuff is what's Honda designed for road use.
The stoptechs tegiwa suggested are also very good, I use them on mine (some track use).
Brake discs will get surface rust on the swept surface as its bare metal that's exposed to the elements. If you want to keep the rest tidier paint the centre area and the outer edge with high temperature paint.

Why is it whenever somone asks about stock brakes, all that comes back is the mega expensive exotic stuff, drilled, grooved coated etc.

As you asked about STOCK BRAKES, then your local motor factor should be able to supply for around £30 - £40 a cormer, Honda pads are just fine and at last look a resonable price as are OEM type replacements like Padget etc.

For road use you don't need anything else, and some argue they are fine for light track as well, for info brake fluid is stock DOT4.

but seriously when you weigh up prices. MTEC grooved/drilled/dimpled protective coated discs all round come in at £37.5 per corner....that's pretty hard to beat
