Evening all,

The last couple of days I've noticed that when turned my steering wheel it creaks. Sounds like its coming from behind the steering wheel or the top of the steering column.

Any thoughts?

Regards

Top steering column bush/bearing, sounds as if it needs lubricating.

Thanks for all your witty responses! ;-)

Its nothing to do with the snow under my wheels, as the sound comes from around the steering wheel and happens when I'm driving too; however once I have driven it home from work last night (and had the heating on in my car full whack the whole way because it was frrreezing) the noise had gone?? Could it be anything to do with the cold? Or am I being stoopid?

Ah thanks, easy thing to do myself or will I need to get in in to Honda?

I'm really not great with knowing how to fix things but always willing to give it a go....

Not sure how hard it is on the S2000,but it was easy on a Mk1 Mini! Probably not worth the hassle and expense of taking it to a dealer unless it is really pissing you off. Cheaper to just live with it.

Ok then. Enlighten us to where you find this mythical spring.

If you can.

Ask at any decent motor factor. They normally have them in stock next to the piston return clips.

Do I have to tell you guys everything? Jeez, novices....

Make sure you're really careful, and insist on a 2.5 turn steering return spring. Honda uses some wierd sizes and a normal one would be 2.75 turn. You do no want a 2.75 turn one.
