Sticking accelerator pedal
Hi all,
I dont know what ive done but was having a clean around the engine bay this weekend and seem to have inadvertantly tightened a nut that had effected the throttle pedal inside the cabin.
The nut in question is the one that holds the lever on the outside of the iac that the throttle cable connects to, just under the map sensor. As i was cleaning and degreasing etc I noticed this was slightly free and presumed id loosened it when cleaning...so decided to tighten it up.
BUT
After id done that I noticed that the throttle pedal inside has a sticking point right at the top, almost feels like its not free when I first put pressure on it (as it was before) so im presuming I just need to loosen it off a little but no matter how hard i try I cant seem to loosen it off!!
Apologies for lack of technical know how but hopefully this is the reason that the throttle pedal seems to be 'sticking' ???
Cheers

Hmmm, unfortunately I think this is a self inflicted problem! But im still not sure how to sort it and if indeed trying to loosen the nut in question will actually sort it...
Have you tried loosening the nut then?
Might be worth taking the cable off the throttle body completely and see whether the pedal then runs free all the way, then do the same with the lever arm on the throttle valve and see what that does
If both run free and smooth there should be no reason why they shouldn't do this when they're connected to each other.
Hope that helps

Yeah its not the two nuts on the cable itself, its the nut on the lever.
This is the only thing i think of that ive touched since noticing the change so i guess ill just have to keep trying to loosen that nut off a little...
Now where is that can of spinach!?

lol, slightly off topic here, a mate of mine called me after owning his S2000 for 3 months, tells me his clutch is slipping. I tell him thats impossible cuz the car is brand new. I tell him how to test it and what to look for etc etc.
He still isnt convinced, takes it to honda, they check eveything out, and eventually find out that the floor mat was getting caught on the clutch pedal.
HAHAHAHA, FAIL
sorry for the threadjack

Sounds like your Toyota's throttle lever is incorrectly assembled, if it looked loose.
There is usually a yellow paint mark to indicate it was correctly torqued.
Obviously, slightly loosen it so it turns back into a Honda.
But get a garage/expert to look at it.

Yes I do remember seeing a yellow paint mark on there.
If I can actually loosen a little im thinking its going to be trial and error to find the exact position where there isnt a sticking point on the pedal inside...failing that yeah ill have to get it into a garage.
Thanks for all your help
