Default Sticking caliper, not again FFS

So, managed to save up some money to get an exhaust and induction kit. Spent ages listening to youtube clips of exhausts and weighing up how much to spend etc - all good fun.

Then, this morning, I get out of my car after driving to work and notice a burning smell. Walk around to the rear of the car to get stuff out of the boot, and notice a very warm spot at the rear driver side wheel. Go in for a closer look, and face is greeted with a red hot glow. Touch the caliper and the disc to check what's going on, and burned my finger.

It's only been about 3 months since my front caliper seized - this is becoming a joke.

Last time it cost about £230 to replace the caliper, which means I'm kissing the induction kit goodbye

Absolute farce

Really peed off right now My finger still hurts as well

Why not get a seal kit and overhaul them yourself? Far cheaper option.

Also, if you feel the wheel and it's warm/glowing, it's probably not the greatest idea to touch the caliper and disc! In fact, even after normal driving your disc will be hot!

Live and learn!!

Why did you touch it if it had a 'red hot glow'?

Personally I'd replace both with refurbs from EBC for about £250

+1 - I've just had mine refurbed by a garage near me. Bought the kits form the US afor £36 and paid the garage £60 to do the two. Drives sweet as a nut now.

Sorry, it wasn't actually glowing in terms of the colour, it was the warmth coming from it. But yes, wasn't a good idea to touch it, I think my reasoning was to see whether it was just warm from braking, or really hot from being stuck. Obviously the latter.

Finger is feeling better now

Wallet isn't

Will look at some refurbed ones, its just the waiting time for them to arrive and have fitted which I can't be doing with, what I save by getting a refurbed one, I will lost on taxi journey costs to and from work for the next few days

Its a fundamental fact that the Nissin calipers that Honda use are just like the suspension bolts, Guaranteed to seize sooner rather than later. Unfortunately they are crap calipers as I and many others have found out, it's best to buy a re-furbed/brand new unit rather than free it off as it will only seize up again shortly after.

I can't rate JRT highly enough.

No is not about the Nissin caliper, they are very good quality.

Fact is Honda put a very tiny rear caliper on the Rwd car, they just put the normal Integra Type R rear caliper on the S2000. They have messed this up completely, S2000 is the only car have crack rear disk sooner than the front and melted caliper seals, all caused by overheating rear braking system.

replace the sliders and seals, then use the correct grease to keep them from allowing water ingress...

most people use a grease ( usually copper grease) that perishes the rubber
