Default Stone Chips

Hi all

Has anyone noticed the S seems to get more stone chips than many other cars? Not sure if it's cos it's lower than my last motor or because it's black (last car was a light blue so they didn't stand out so much), however I seem to be picking them up at a rapid rate of knots!

I really am confused at where they're coming from.

I'm finding that they tend to be mainly on the bonnet and wings of the car. I don't know if it's due to my road having recently been (very badly) resurfaced, whether it's because next door recently had a new roof put on their house and it was due to soem of the debris falling onto my car, or whether it's my neighbour on the opposite side's kids throwing stones at the car (I caught him doing this to my wife's motor not long back ). However their kids are all very young so I doubt they would be able to reach mine which is always parked on the opposite side!

I just wondered if it was a common problem amongst S owners before I go blazing a trail round to the neighbours and accusing their kids again!

Does anyone know the best way to get rid of small chips, rather than getting hammered by someone like chips away? Is deep polishing or mopping a solution? I believe the car does have Supagard and wondered if that helps/hinders fixing the problem.

Many thanks.

My car has quite a few stone chips too. a few on the bonnet, front wheel arches and front bumper. I'd be quite interested in buying some of that stuff, but as it's from the US they probably don't do Moonrock.

Thanks. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct paintcode for moonrock? NH676M or NH676M-S or NH676M-T.

Thanks trypod

Have you used this product? If so does it completely remedy the chips, even when the paint laquer is pierced? T-Cut was useless BTW...

Nah, that stuff will make no difference at all to stone chips in my experience. I had Gard-X - same stuff really - and it was no protection!

I have two horrible chips on my o/s - one to the front wing, and one (bizarrely) on the door. The ones on the bonnet I can generally live with.

I got the Honda touch-up but still haven't used it. The code on that is.....

08703 NH 676 MHE

That Dr. ColorChip stuff looks interesting. Would be good to know what results have been achieved by any S2000 owners..... I'm sure I could look it up.

The alternative, I suppose, is build up the normal touch-up in layers, get some wet'n'dry on it, then polish.

Pretty much as Funster says, you will need so really fine grain wet & dry (4000) to finish levelling it off. The alternative is to buy one of these before;
