Stopping to put top up...
Was just wondering if anyone has heard of getting in bother for pulling over on a Motorway hard shoulder to put the top up after a sudden downpour?
I imagine it would be frowned on by the law, but I would argue it is safer than to continue?
Personally, I love it when I drop or raise the roof at the traffic lights - lovely and quick!

Usually you're going quick enough that you don't need (or want to stop) I've only needed to put it up once and I pulled off at the next junction. However that was my MR2, and whilst slowing at about 30mph I put the roof up manually.
Just don't choose a junction that doesn't have a proper junction ie roundabout or lights...

Dangerous IMHO, hard shoulder is for emergencies only. Just keep your foot down so you don't get wet and pull over at the services or a slip road.
The next exit might be miles away. Is it more dangerous to have someone stop for 30 seconds on the hard shoulder or to have a driver who is becoming increasingly distracted by how wet he is getting, and having to traverse a potentially long stretch of motorway before he can exit and remedy things?

My thoughts too LL....
I haven't done this myself but often wondered...
As for putting down/up the roof at traffic lights, I only ever do it if they have just turned red and I am not in the front 3 cars or so (obviously stationary) Don't see a problem with this personally with it being so quick - wouldn't do it with one of the Merc metal rooves that deform the car for 3 minutes whilst it packs it away!
