Default Strange idle problem

The problem i'm having is when i'm at idle parked in neutral (with hot or cold engine). There is no hesitation while moving or the usual symptoms.

I touch the throttle and raise the revs a few hundred rpm and then take my foot off the pedal completly, the revs drop down very low (very occasionally stalling the engine), stutters and then rpm rises back to normal idle rpm.

Has anyone else had this problem, I haven't read about this happening? My first port of call is to clean the throttle butterfly and IACV.

I have had a read but it doesn't stall or try to stall in stop/start traffic or hesitate at high rpm refered to in the FAQ. This is why I thought it wasn't the average problem?

Also, there has never been a CEL

Thanks for the info, I guess it's probably just a sticky butterfly valve then (i hope)

Clean up the IACV and check the MAP. I'd also pull the ECU fuse (or disconnect the battery) to reset it and then let it "relearn" to idle by leaving it idling for ~20 mins. I had this issue after the valve clearances were done.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of months ago. It turned out it was just dodgy fuel from tesco. I used redex and a full tank of v-power fuel and it hasn't come back.

I've had the same. I think it was all part of the ongoing and intermittent misfire problems I had for ages that only went away for good when I bought a new injector.

Did you get a CEL because mine isn't showing anything.

I'm using BP ultimate at the moment but I'm going to put some Shell V-power in tonight to see if that does anything
