Default Sub in the boot query..

Hi guys,

Just recently bought a s2000.

Since I've been owning cars I've always made a false floor boot build. They have all been hatchbacks (most recent was a civic type r).

Would a boot build in the s2000 benefit the sound system?

Reason for asking is because the boot is blocked off in the s2 if you get my jist when comparing it to hatches.

Anyone with any experience feel free to comment as any views would be very helpful!

Thanks

Simon.

Mine works very nicely. Some holes in the plastic tray and covering it in sound deadening on the underside with acoustic carpet on top works very well.

I have a darkside sub box (and have now put in an Alpine SWR-T10 which works much better.

Getting the crossover settings right is important, too. it needs to be low (50-60Hz) to really make sure that the directionality is reduced. A good amp and quality sub makes a difference here.

Another location is the well. See here for some ideas: http://www.darksidesubs.com/enclosures.html

I already have a alpine SWR-1222D 12" sub. i plan to make an enclosure again. I've looked at the darksides inclosures however they only do boxes up to 10"!

Im thinking of making a box that sits the sub in the middle of the boot (ontop of the jack and tools).

Whats the plastic tray you speak of? if that a divide between the cockpit and the boot?

Thanks pal!

Check their trunkwell enclosure, which will take a 12" - it's basically what you're trying to do.

Yes, the tray the roof sits in when folded.

Some useful custom enclosure pics here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/113...t__p__23708286

Personally i think the S2000 is a little 'fragile' for a rumbling 12" and suits the punch of a well driven 10" better. It's surprising how much difference cutting some 'breathing' holes in the rear tray makes.

I have a Kicker Solobaric L7 in mine, in a box in the tool tray well - but then i don't care about boot space.

A 12" sub fits absolutely perfectly. Building a decent box for it to go in - that's the art.

I hand a custom enclosure in place of the tool tray (be careful to carry a can of tyre gunk if you go down that route). It didn't compromise the boot space and sounded brilliant.

I can recommend this one, if you want to go for the underseat option
