Default Sump plug went for a walk

So I've just been driving around town and noticed the oil light come on. Stopped the car and looked under the car and the sump plug was missing. It was still emptying out oil at this point so hopefully no damage was caused *sigh*

You have had low pressure, hence the light. I'd be worried

If the oil light has come on the pressure has hit below 7.5psi which is the pressure switch point. Normal oil pressure at idle is a highish 36psi for a Honda. Its possible damage has occurred, it only takes a split second without any oil pressure to foobar bearings. I hope u r lucky...

Despite the naysayer it depends on how you were driving it. Low revs and pootling will mean you have a decent chance of saving it. If you were giving it some I'd be telling you you have had it.

Put a sump plug in immediately after I shut it off, stuck some oil in and started it up. No funny noises at the moment, so fingers crossed.

I was driving around 20mph to be fair, and did literally stop it as soon as it came on. I have a feeling I didn't tighten the sump plug tightly last week when I done the oil

I know when I worked at Rolls Royce I regularly saw engines in destruction tests. I was surprised how long those beasts kept running, void of oil.

I'm glad I was not behind you on my motorcycle when it came out and deposited oil all over the road

Hope you get away with it though the issues tend to rear their head in a good few miles down the road with wear the shells and all , if you hear knocking you've had it.

I helped swap an engine and it was like fishing for gold with the sump.
