Default Suspension bolt greasing

Guy and girls

I did the greasing of my suspension bolts today and it took 6 hours to do them all but defnitely worth every minute.

I have an April MY05 car with 4,500 miles on it. I have tried not to drive it in all conditions but I have done about 200 miles since they started spraying the roads with salt. I usually (every other trip) rinse the salt off the bodywork, wheels and underside (which has been waxoyl'd). So I was astonished to find that some of the bolts had already started to corrode. There was no grease on any of them. Now although the corrosion was not bad it still took a while to do some of the bolts. It was noticable how long it took to do some of them and not others depending on who much corrision was on there.

The only tools I used were a torque wrench, lots of Castrol LM grease and tons of disposable gloves. Also used a grease gun to fill the sleeves with grease.

There is one bolt on the rear that is really tricky and I could not remove it all the way -not due to corrosion but to do with the spring on the damper being in the way.
I would defintely recommend everyone doing theirs and as soon as possible.

Oh and I waxoyl'd all the bolts in the first 500 miles when I did the underside of the car.

I will get Honda to sort out the problem under warranty if they seize. I have applied grease to the bolts but not sure if that is enough. I am sure I will have to argue faulty design at some stage.

I save Chris's (Kelk) unpainted callipers today and they were truly rusting. I have never seen any others like this before but I have painted mine on both cars but it is shocking how and where Honda have cut corners.

Dunno, the bolt heads are probably going to snap off due to the corrosion anyway

Can you trust the dealer to do it properly? Or is it easy to check if they have done it?

If the geo can't be adjusted when it's needed then Honda will need to sort the problem. I too did the waxoyl thing from new and I figure that's more than enough as a caring owner. I'll keep the salt off by jetwashing regularly but that's it.
