Default Taking apart OE Damper

Right,

Went to fit my springs yesterday, have done springs on previous cars so wasn’t phased. Jacked it up, removed both front dampers. NSF came apart no problem using a 14mm ring spanner and an allen attachment with ratchet to the top to prevent spinning. Holly pissed off when I came to do the OSF and the allen just spins as its rounded inside........

Any advise?

I guess at a garage using a ratchet / air gun would work? however I don’t have one and wanted to do the work myself.

Anyhow, put the car all back together and cancelled my Geo booked for tomorrow as I have a track day at Blyton Park on Saturday.......I know I was leaving it all a little last minute, but I’m gutted.

Can you hacksaw accross the head and force a wide flatblade screwdriver assisted with mole grips in? And plus gas it first just for luck.

How much thread is sticking through? Get a thin nut that will screw on, before screwing it on put a saw cut through it so it's not a full circle
Make the cut from one of the corners (points) of the nut towards the centre
Now screw it on and put a set of mole grips on the nut so when clamped the try to close the saw cut, that should be enough to clamp the nut solid without damaging the thread
Other more desperate method is find a torqs bit that just won't fit in the Allen socket and tap it in this might be enough to do the job
Failing that file two opposing flats on the top of the thread and use a small 6 mm spanner
