Default TCT gone bad?

Just got into work and noticed this rattle, conventient video below:

After sniffing about the forum and the web it seems consitant with other videos demonstrating the sound the TCT makes when its on its way.

How urgent is it to get this reapaired (side effects or anything to be wary of) as I have 4 days off coming up after tomrrow so could get the work done then but don't want to risk it exploding before then.

How much would I be looking at to get this repaired or replaced? Ideally not at a Honda dealership as I don't fancy parting with my soul as payment.

Lots of detailed threads on this if you search but it will be ok to leave it for a bit, just annoying when people hear it and think your cars knackered

And no need to shell out £150+ for a new one, I sand blast mine every 14 months or so and it fixes it for free

An oil change improved mine but still does it, just not as bad. Use decent oil

if it is the TCT options are
repair - get the worm and inside the cylinder sand blasted
replace standard - about £100-£170
replace proper - $150 a chap from america called bilman makes modified ones that have a lifetime guarantee. he currently is overwhelmed with orders in the US and isn't posting to the UK for a few months.

either way the below link shows you how to either replace or refurb it! thebenifit of refurbing, it cost me £2 for a local mechanic to sand blast it! winner! i know it wont last long term but its on delay at least.

its very easy job to do yourself, i was pleasantly surprised.

HTH.

Ahhh that doesn't look too difficult, even though i'm not much good with mechanics I think even I could manage that. Now I need to source a sand blaster...

FYI buddy, i wouldn't bother emailing billman.
Seemed pretty rude / un interested when i told him i was in the UK, i even offered for him to ship the part to our sister company at work in Miami, still no luck!
Definitely not the friendliest reply i have had !

Cheers

I think it's more the case he just has enough work from the USA. Anyway, i got a TCT off someone on here who had drilled out the oil feed hole - no more noise and that's without an oil change.

Far as i can tell, it's quieter on startup, warm restart and in general operationl

If you take a rattling TCT out of a car, clean it and then re-install it it will work fine ..... for a short time.

I really need to get ours sorted, came on here to ask about upgraded ones and saw this thread,.

I was looking at this one:

Any thoughts?

How urgent is it to be changed (annoying noise aside)?

Just to add, will the supercharger assembly have to come off to change the TCT (i.e. is it in the way?)?

Just been on the blower to Honda they are happy to fit it while it's being serviced (£499 for 82k service + gearbox fluids?) - but then I thought about maybe the s/c kit in the way?
