TCT issue
If its due, change the oil and look for somewhere to sandblast it
do it yourself
I say DIY, I wont even do my own and there is a sandblaster up the road!
but the oil change mad a difference on mine, still needs doing though

I 'hand blasted' mine on the weekend, I have no technical skills and even I found it pretty straight forwards.
Grab some 80 grit from halfords or B&Q, Aluminum Oxide paper done the trick for me. Sand the worm gear until its appearance is dull in appearance as highlighted in this guide: TCT: Repair/Replace
One thing I will say though is be wary when removing the TCT unit itself. It will uncompress and the internal parts will scatter into the engine bay/driveway if you don't hold onto it when removing.
Seems happy now though, have done about 300 miles since and its quiet as a mouse.

My TCT is making more noise than it should be atm, and I've been reading about sanding the worm gear but can't find anyone local willing to sand blast these small parts. Sounds like DIY is the way to go. I did wonder is you could use an attachment on a Dremel to do this job?

You just need to rough up the worm gear to get rid of its smooth shininess, doesn't matter how. I did mine with valve paste (£3 off ebay IIRC); just worked it in by hand for 5 minutes. Seemed to work.
Valve clearances have been done as well as oil change.
Removed the TCT, pulled it apart, put it back together and now, no knocking sound.
Didn't sand or anything, it was very lose when taking it off so by winding it back it seems to have fixed it.
I would give it a go before sand blasting or sanding down.
