Don't think anyone has successfully repaired a tear there

You can see the bit of metal there which causes the problem.

I have slipped a strip of velcro in there to protect my new roof from it as it will eventually wear through.

I tried to get a bit on the metal but it was almost impossible so ended up sticking it on the inside of the roof material.

Roof half down and feel your way blind, I wasted quite a few bits until positioning the perfect piece.

Have a chat with Carhood Warehouse.
If they will give you an estimate that you can put towards a new roof with a split invoice for repair/new roof it would be a result.

I would consider giving that metal a bit of treatment before fitting a new roof though.

Consider the cloth version over the vinyl if you can stretch to it and intend to keep the car.

Very tough to repair due to the location and the whole roof has to come off so Labour is huge. Worth getting a new roof and sorting that metal.

Although, mines been like it for 4 years!!! Lazy....

As its already knackered, whats to lose in attempting a repair?
Its vinyl so any type of plastic cement should bond okay.
I was thinking of Humbrol / Airfix type stuff.
I would really have a go if it were mine, and slip a piece on the inside.

Steve.
