Default Are they taking the michael?

As some of you may know, a new job & commute will mean I have to get rid of the S & opt into a company car scheme in 3 months time. Not massively keen on losing my S; especially after the great weekend we just had.

So I could at least start to work out my finances I took the car to the supplying Honda dealer to see what sort of a price they would offer to buy it back.

The offer I received was a shock to say the least

prices seem to be going soft with most dealers wanting to clear stock before the plate change plus people still worried about recession, loan repayments etc. A bad time to be selling but a good time for buyers after a good deal.

If you are going to loose that much on it - isn't it worth looking at getting a cheap beater for the commute?????

Seems a bit cheap. It would make sense to sell privately in a few months I think.

Fair point with the recession etc, typical timing eh!

Beater not an option as there is no opt out scheme.

Private will be the route, just didnt know how many people that would spend that amount privately, or maybe its just me!

Trade in prices are always bad. Sell privately.

When selling a car to the trade expect to be insulted......but you can return the favour.

All of my beaters have been bought as I walked away and the seller gave in.

In my opinion, depreciation is accelerating and (as someone who would never buy new) so there's loads of choice out there.

Sell privately - not yet btw its too early - and be prepared to hold out for a realistic price.

Check out some of the asking prices on here, AutoTrader and PistonHeads.

14K is very low for a UK car, 15K and I think you're still giving it away.
Dealer would probably put that on the forecourt at 19-20 depending on spec and location.

One of the new owners at a recent meet bought a 55 IIRC paid about

I'd seen similar prices from dealers on 55 plates which is what made me question their offer. I understand they have to make a profit but that takes the biscuit!

Esp as it will still have 9 months warranty remaining so they would only need to increase it by 3 months at their risk.

If I ended up with c.
