After weighing up the options and unsuccessfully bidding for an 9887r on ebay this morning, I've bought the ex-demo 9887r on Sexton's website and ordered the KCE-422i cable from an ebay seller for

It's Easter Sunday, trading is forbidden perhaps? I wouldn't worry about it!

The KCE cable will just about reach the centre console, I keep my iPod strapped into the door there.

Let me know if/when you want to do an Imprint run (or we can arrange postage and return of the kit if you like).

I have:

(a) an ex-demo HU, minus manual (I'll print it off later today)

(b) A genesis amp which didn't take kindly to my existing ground cable, blew six fuses in short succession, and is currently in a box next to me, dead.

Thanks for the advice lovgroova and PL!

The time correction made a big difference.

I didn't adjust the slope like yours lovegroove. I found it to alter the sound in a bad way.

My Parametric-EQ setting are different also as my head unit has a 7 band EQ.

Any more advice is welcome

Glad to hear it - it really does improve the soundstage. I've now wired in my HU and I'm just waiting for my amp to be repaired and returned

Glad to hear you're getting on well. As long as you are happy with the EQ settings then that's great, it's very much a personal thing.

My settings were beased on the Imprint reading I took, reversing the peaks and troughs as far as possible.

You can see there is a peak at roughly 1.2kHz, hence the Band3:1.2k/-3/3
part.

I may have put up the wrong settings looking at it, as I've not countered the big trough at 500Hz, Band 2 should perhaps be: 500Hz/+3/3.

Anyway, you get the idea

Peaks and troughs will be roughy the same for most cars, although there will be differences because of equipment, the main factor is the acoustics of the car.

Here's some revised settings based on the readout

Band1:63.0/+3/1.5
Band2:500.0/+3/3
Band3:1.2k/-3/3
Band4:3.2k/+1/1.5
Band5:6.0k/-3/3

The big peak from 4kHz to 10kHz is why many people find the sound in the S2000 too bright. Taming this will help a lot. The easy way to do it is to lower the windows

If you can have two or even three setups stored for roof and windows up/roof down windows up and roof down windows down, it's quite good, if somewhat time consuming

What does the last column represent? (-1.5,3,3,1.5,3)

The first column is the frequency of the band, the second is the gain in DB's, but what is the third? and how do you change the value?

How did you measure the sound reading? laptop in the car?

Also where did you get the software? Alpine website?

One last thing, what am I trying to achieve on the frequency graph?
