Default tinted windows?

After my mrs's car was vandalised last night have been considering whether to tint the windows a darker shade! I've heard that some prevent glass from being smashed everywhere/harder to break through if it were ever to be broken into again! Anyone had there S done?? is it worth it? and how much do you think it would cost?

Also heard there was some new legislation on tinting windows too??

cheers

Search the net for your local pentagon outlet.

They are professional and do all the colour ranges as well as the clear film.

Hope that helps

Dont get carried away though, keep it legal imho.
Around the Thames Valley the police are obsessed with tinted windows, some units have a machine that measures the tint , often see them out with it.
Did you see a short while ago that the Merc Ml has a problem with its standard tint being too dark ?

Sorry to hear this Frisbeekylee.

Since you have a 03, i guess you would also tint the rear soft top screen and the hardtop rear screen too?

Do you not think tinted side windows would look a bit strange in the summer with the roof down though?

I tend to leave all internal storage comparments open and empty when i leave the car but at the end of the day you'll never stop the mindless pikey minority!!

Its just a thick stick film that they stick to the inside of the window.
Comes in the clear and then 3-4 shades from very light black called light smoke to a dark then limo black which is illegal of the front driver/passenger window.

I had dark smoke on my gsi and it was fine and with a light interior it was more like light smoke due to the light, so roof down i would think it would be fine.

There's new legislation coming in very shortly which will make it illegal to have ANY tint on the front windows at all. It seems the new law will apply retrospectively to vehicles reg'd on or before 1st Jan this year. Tinting firms are now declining to tint front windows in anticipation of this legislation.

EDIT...

Starts in July. I suppose it could mean that if you're tinted before Jan 1st you're OK. (Regardless of date of registration)

just spoke to the guy at the tinting place and he says basically if you have the lightest tint 35% (i think he said) if you get pulled you won't get points but you'll have to have it removed! but he said he will do it just so long as i say that they are not liable for it!

he quoted me

I wouldn't have this done on a convertible. IMO it looks a little odd with the windows up (which I do in the winter).

We also have a Citroen C8 which came with the rear section blacked out and the front just tinted (which I think looks bloody awful !!).

I paid circa
