my comment regarding decent tools was buy a good set of basic spanners, not all the other stuff. I broke a nuckle once when a cheap spanner broke whilst swinging on it, not pleasant also you have less chance of rounding nut and bolt heads with good quallity tools. If you know anybody going to USA get them to call into Sears they have a tool section that would put most UK tool shops to shame
I paid $75 for a full set of combination spanners from Craftsman and they come with a lifetime warranty.

I bought a piston retracting tool from Hellfrauds and found it pretty rubbish, and it's not needed for the fronts anyway.

G-Clamp for the fronts, and I think people like to improvise for the rears, or so I've read on here.
To be fair I have the same tool and its pretty good, you can use it to wind the frounts in easyly, and while you dont need it inparticular for the S2000, as you can just slde a crew driver across the groves in the rear pisiton and turn. It was worth it weight in gold when i did a few VAG cars.

i use it on the S as it so easy and anything that make the job easier or quicker

If you can't afford or find a low profile jack.

Get a pair of bricks. Put them under your wheels and drive up onto them. You'll then get a std jack under the car.

"Only just" will be fine. Add to that the entrance to my garage is a concreted upslope and I can park the car (any car) at then end of the flat and it'll go under easily.

The problem with 'only just' is that when you have jacked up one side of the car the suspension on the other seems to remain just compressed enough to stop the trolley jack from going under even when you've lowered the car back to the ground

But it's ok if I'm jacking up either the front or the rear of the car and putting it on axle stands?
