Default Top Down Blast

Could not resist the bit of sunshine yesterday (and my newly serviced S) - out with the car, on with the hat and scarf and down with the top (no fiddling with a hard top for me!)

Went for a 50 mile blast down to Skeggy - top down all the way! Roads were mostly OK but interesting to see that at the front of every slow moving convoy it's still a Metro! - not all recycled here yet.

I found the heating system very good (on the special "top down" setting) also noticed that the top vents dispense almost all of their output from the right hand side - the downward vents above the gear lever are also very powerful. Obviously the heating system is designed for right hand in wheel and left hand on gear change! Mobil1 does seem to have improved performance delivery.

Any other brave souls out there?

James

I don't know if my runs in the Caterham and Westfields yesterday count - more top down, doors off, windscreen out type of driving (still trying to get my jacket clean - must buy leather driving jacket for next outing...) Heating - hah! Overweight luxury

Its getting increasingly tempting to doff the hardtop though....

Not for a few weeks.
The wet roads tend to result in the inside of the car getting dirtier than normal.

I do not usually need to much encouragement to get my top down , but I must say the dank gray drizzly weather we are having in the SE at present, combined with roads covered with greasy black salt solution, have resulted in 6 consecutive days with the top up - this, after 9 months of ownership, is a record for me .

Well I must be a bit nesh 'cos, this weather, I like it nice and cosy in the cockpit with the tin lid on

I just washed mine and the guy over the road came across to tell me that his son (aged 19) had a model S2000 in his bedroom and worshipped this beast I had on the drive. Apparently the son runs to the window to see me everytime I drive off in it! My neighbour asked if I might give his lad a ride one day. How could I refuse?

Since my car has been in a honda garage in France for now more than 3 months , I didn't have the opportunity to do some cold weather pimping this year, but I remember that even with the heat full on, there was a cold spot on my left leg, just above the knee (that would be the right leg for the few eccentrics who drive on the wrong side ).

Apart from that it's a really good feeling, really bizarre actually...

No, ironically I think the best "demo" drives in this car are when it's topless, so he'll have to wait until the clocks go forward. But I've promised him it will be worth the wait

I have inside temp sensor - just by my right knee, with the top down in winter - even with the heater set to only half temp and just 2 bars on the fan - I get 22deg C snugness. I think the high sided doors help to keep the heat in.

for all you people who take the top down in cold weather, i thought i read somewhere on the manual that stated you should never take the top down when the weather is very cold.. i guess it might mess up the plastic window???
i am not sure..
