Yes.

For wet / icey / cold mornings on the way to work when I'm still half asleep, its good to know that I wont be faced with any OMG moments! (unless I decide to turn it off that is)

No, as it only cuts in when it detects that the wheels are actualy slipping. You can also vary the amount of slip allowed from 0% upto 20%.

Also when it does cut in, it has different cut levels that it can apply to smooth things out easier. You can feel it cut in if you provoke it though
