Default Tyre Question?

Hi,

Has anyone had tyres replaced under warranty...

took a look at mine last weekend, and the inside edges of the fronts are shot to pieces...after 9K miles.

It appears that all of the wear is on the inside 1.5 inches....

I understand that the wear on the fronts wont be even, but this seems very extrememe to me.

Has anyone else seen this? and if so did you get them replaced under warranty?

Cheers

M.

That's pretty normal I think you'll find. I got 12.5k out of my rears. The wear was even across the tyre but biased heavily towards the insides where the wear was heavy. The original fronts look great until you lock the wheels over and have a good look at the inside edges where there is heavy wear even though they're still legal. Are you sure they're shot to pieces? Many people get 20K miles out of a set of fronts. Bear in mind that the legality of the tyre is measured over the full width of the tyre or 2/3 of it anyway if memory serves!

Hi,

I think tyres come under the wear & tear aspect of any warranty claim & are usually excluded because it is so easy to kerb your car & knock the tracking out. This will then lead to uneven tyre wear.

Sorry for the bad news.

Cleaning my car last weekend, and my drivers side front inside edge has worn more than the rest.

I have never curbed the car.
32 32 32 32 always.

Here's my front tyres guys if it helps... with 13K on the clock.

Interestingly, the tyre place where I had my new rears fitted tried to talk me into changing these tyres as "Almost shot"

For that reason, I particularly asked Brindley Honda to check them over at the service I've just had done. They reckon that the wear showing is just about ideal and that the lowest point on the inside edges measures 3mm on each tyre.

Haven't I read somewhere BTW that the revised alignment settings are likely to result in heavier tyre wear? Obviously that wouldn't be a consideration if markcu's settings were wildly out.

I never got a price on the fronts Tif. You'd think they'd be bit cheaper being a smaller tyre, but I suppose it aint necessarily so!

Hmm.. I can see you're really impressed with your new alignment settings! Damn!!! thinks thinks thinks

Wow that wear does look extreme doesn't it!!? Something wrong there if your're tyre pressures are O.K. Have you checked for transportation spacers in the suspension springs?
