Default Tyres

Right chaps and chappeses...it's time to get some new rubber for the rear of my S...I've just spent the last two hours reading through the various posts, but would like some clarification on a few points.

I've got the JDM BBS 16" Wheels and will not upgrade to OEM 17"s, so please don't try and coerce me

I currently have F1 GSD3s all round, with 5mm left on the fronts...too soon to change these IMO.

I've shortlisted T1Rs, RE050, GSD3s, Asymmetrics and Falkens.

As with most owners, I desire a decent level of grip and wear. The GSD3s have lasted nearly 10k with one airfield day, enthusiastic driving, and some motorway mileage...this is acceptable life expectancy IMO.

R888s entice me, then I look at my bank account and realise I cannot afford to replace them too often

I cannot find any feedback regarding Falkens...has anyone tried these yet?

Would a T1R (Rear)/GSD3 (Front) combination be advisable?

I have 225/50/16 and 205/55/16...as that was on the car when I bought it. The FAQ says the rears should be 225/45...is this correct? Mine have the same profile as the old SO2s

Has anyone tried GSD3s in 225 AND 245 configuration? If so, did you notice any difference?

I got majorly confused when reading about the RE050A/MZ/Z/BZTQRY etc etc, does this apply to 16" or 17"?

I know tyres are very much user dependant, but as always, your advice is appreciated

Which ones? 452s? How long have you had them on? What did you have before?

I am running Falkens on the same wheels as you (and, like you, I have no desire to upgrade). Once they're warmed up I think they're excellent.

I had Toyos previously, which I really liked. The grip was there more promptly, with them being softer tyres. I just wasn't happy with the tread wear though.

After caning it around the Lakes and the Dales last weekend, I'm convinced I made a good choice, especially for the money they cost.

I've only tried S02s, RE050s, Toyos, and Falkens, so I can't comment on the others you mentioned.

Gaspode popping out he said, he hasnt wrote a batch file to insert text into a webpage yet but he told me to tell you..

'Use the search you f**ing newbie or I'll come round your house, tie your hands behind your back, tie you up and made you recite the contents of the FAQ 3000 times and watch 24hours of searching the s2k site' - failing this i will kill you and tatoo the whole of the FAQ on your body AKA prison break style.

Apart from that he said upgrade to 17's.

Cheers
