Saving money via the import route has only been 'do-able' in the last three years mainly due to the pounds strength more than anything. Using Holland as an example ,Post TAX price of an S2000 comes near to UK price, but large savings are due to their 32% 'luxury tax' compared to our VAT @17.5%!

I was originally thinking of importing but could not stand the 5-6 months waiting time I was being quoted. Loads of insurers I was ringing also asked pointedly if the car was an import -this put me off a little. So two weeks ago today I went and bit the bullet and bought from a Honda UK dealer - take delivery tomorrow.

I,m 6'2", Andy, but I have a very long back. I can drive the car fine. It's a good driving position and I find it comfortable, but I do stick out of the top a bit.

This is OK but I want to feel lower down and more part of the car. I'll enjoy it more if I can lose some inches and gain some visibility.

I thought there was a difference between buying through an agent and buying from an importer.

An agent basically just does the paperwork and if they go bust you still have a car on order through a dealer in Europe. If an importer goes bust you're stuffed.

Let me know if I'm wrong about this.

My black/red uk dealer supplied S2000 is for sale to good home. I'll be working overseas for around a year so should sell really. I had problem with insurance quotes for import so bought from UK dealer - also 90k warranty!

Reg'd Jan 2001. 7k miles. Immac. Kept in garage - only used on dry days. Extras.
