Thumbs up Underside pictures

Guys,

Please check out the pics I took today of the underside of the car, my local garage let me use their car lift which was really handy.

I have replaced the headlight adjuster rod already thanks to a very kind S2ki member, you can see some pics of the snapped one in the gallery.

Any useful tips on what I can/should do are welcomed.

What is that welded bit on the exhaust? Looks like a handle?!

The car drives superbly but I wondered if I should do anything underneath in the meantime......it is a 101,000 mile car and has been used every day prior to me buying it to 'tinker' with.

Did you say you had the alinement checked in a previous post?

If so, they didn't make any adjustments from the look of those very 'untouched' looking adjusters.

The 'handle' is a Helmholtz resonator- click for Wikipedia -removes drone.

Please Waxoyl it

There are some pretty 'ripe' areas there (scabby) - If it were me, I would clean the 101k's worth of grime off and treat any bad areas with rust treatment then go nuts with the underseal!

Exhaust tube is a tuned pipe to reduce droning sound.
Its an old high miler, most cars look like that, don't worry about it.

There are plenty on here who polish the underside of the car, yes, really.
Yours looks like its actually been used, which is what it was built for!

Thank you!

Yes it's a 2000 W reg and has been 'well used'....I intend to give it some TLC but no polishing underneath....

Cheers,

Dan
