Default V-tec in 6th

Traveling home from Yorkshire late last night, I noticed that when in 6th gear below 6,000rpm no matter how far I traveled my car would not V-tec - had to drop down to 4th - 5th, then 6th would be around 7-8000rpm very nice to

Reason for originally not changing down was bloody knackered after 8 hours of driving out 12

Has anybody else noticed this? or is there something wrong with my car

Plus didn't see one S2000 the whole time.

You'd have to travel pretty fast to get to the point where you needed to VTEC in 6th

will it pull 9000 in top? I doubt it since 4th takes you to 115 and the car tops out 35 mph later

152 kph of course, that was at 8,200rpm downhill slightly - bottled it after that but that was changing up through the gears, no matter how long I waited in 6th it would not v-tec?

I thought the VTEC kicked in automatically at a set RPM.

I guess if the car is being hauled by gravity with 6th engaged and the road speed is fast enough then the vtec should kick in....but I'd have thought there was a fair amount of engine braking anyway

I shan't be trying this.....115 is tops for me...a stay at HM Prison is not on my wish list....

no the car will not reach 9000rpm in 6th.. It tops out at about 8.3 8.5K rpm.....this equates to about 165 mph. It was in v-tec at this point.

If you change from 5th at 9K to 6th then the engine wont drop out of v-tec as the revs wont drop below 6K. Also V-tec is a lot less noticeable in the upper gears.

I dont think you wuold reach 152 kph (of course) in 6th without vtec. I driven the car with a map sensor failure (NO VTEC) and it is a very different beast althougher (dog with a limp with only 2 legs).

Sorry think I'd better try & explain a bit better, the car v-tec's in 6th but only changing up through the gears, which is fine, well more than fine, bloody excellent actually.

What it wouldn't do is when driving in 6th at the speed limit then accelerate without changing down a gear or two, no matter how hard I pushed the accelerator or how long I waited/distance traveled the car would not go over 6,500rpm.
