Default VIN Invalid

Hi,

I'm typing my VIN into a few web-sites which say they'll give you information about your car...

http://www.carfax.com/
http://www.decodethis.com/

It says VIN invalid. I've tried it on 3 different sites and they all say the same thing.. have I got a ringer ?

My number is JHMAP11302T123456 (I've replaced my sequence no. with 123456 - but I typed the correct one into the sites above)

It says that the check-digit is wrong.

Any ideas anyone ?

Rich

Did this with my VIN - I got the same results.

Carfax.com seems to be a US site only....
VIN Accuracy Tips:
The VIN must be from a car or light truck manufactured for the North American market since 1981.

Don't know why with decodethis.com

Interesting that - I have just entered known good UK chassis numbers on both sites and they have come back as invalid but they suggest a close match, being 1 character difference.

This would be the difference between UK spec and USA I believe.

Example;

I entered JHMAP1130YT****** (full chassis number) and it came back with a close match - JHMAP1140YT****** which is an American LHD car.

The encoding is correct as it recognises what the car is, and the spec, including year etc, anyone know an English site for it?

I really wanted to know if my car is an import. The only thing which makes me suspicious is that the service book is in Dutch (I think) and the stamp on the first page of the book is for Antwerp, Belgium.

When I bought the car, I was told it wasn't an import, but it didn't really bother me anyway, it looked amazing and drives really well.

I'm now just curious as I read somewhere that Euro imports have more BHP...

Na only Japanese Import have 250ps not euro imports which are exactly the same as the UK car (some minor differences such as alarm but all else the same I think)

No suspicion there
It a European Parallel import
Very little difference to a UK car and no difference in power
