Juan is S2000_Europe, our resident friendly Spanish S2000 owner who changes his mind about his mods more often wheel threads start on the board. He has had a supercharger on his car, a 2.5l F20C and more recently he went turbocharged. He similarly goes through wheels at an astounding rate, the SSRs on my car being originally owned by Juan. Decent alloys are quite rare on the secondhand market here in the UK (much more common on the other side of the pond) but amazingly the SSRs were advertised by StevenM for several weeks IIRC before I decided to buy them off him

Just to clear things up, Volk is a brand of RAYS Engineering wheels.
All RAYS Engineering wheels are manufactured in Japan not China. There is a video somewhere on the net where it shows you how RAYS manuafacture their wheels using FORGED process.
Some of their wheels with complicated designs are CAST processed.
Cast processed wheels are not necessarily heavier than Forged however it's not as strong. OZ Superleggera, Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels are cast processed.

I would never buy cheap wheels, mainly because laquar quality maybe poor and you could be seeing bubbles within a few months.

Nothing is wrong with China - part of my business is sourcing parts from China.

It has a booming economy because they can make all sorts very cheap and take absolutely no notice of copyright or patents.

Once they get quality under control it will be even better.

They are what they are cheap copies - if you are OK with that and don't expect them to perform like the originals then fill your boots

and if Rays did make their wheels in China.. they would still call them Rays/Volks.. and not Ravs..

normally a set of original Rays made in the foundry at Osaka..have this stamp on them..
