Last week it appeared that all of northern england was out of the magic juice?

Has there been some fresh deliveries in my absence?

Guy at the garage told me end of the month - his exact words were 'it went tits up at the refinery'!

I met a lovely girl this week who is a trader for Shell, I'll see if I can get some inside info as I'll be seeing her again this evening.

Whilst we were chatting, she did say never to fill up with fuel when there has just been a delivery as it mixes up all the manky bits in the tank which isn't good for the car. I'm sure everybody knows this already and it is very obvious but it's not something that I'd considered in the past.

I'm fairly sure they have filtration for the pumps, Saz?

I have a stock of octane booster for such emergencies

The only Tesco garage within about 20 miles of me is normally so full you have to wait 20 minutes to get fuel.

I've been using Esso Supreme the last week - just as good, but 123.9
