View Poll Results: So if you could buy your S again, and you had the option of VSA or not, what would you do?
I'd pick another car instead!

VSA on the S...
I went to play football tonight and on the way back with my mate, we approached the ring road where its 3 lanes, so i dropped into 2nd as we approached the lights on green, and gave it a few beans round the corner... as it was damp and cold, I managed a perfect slide/drift and held it in 2nd into vtec and then it straightened up and into 3rd. My mate said very cool
Just thought, if i had VSA, would i ever switch it off, in which case, fun like that would never happen! Hence the poll, just wondered what people thought, especially those who got VSA and have had an S before without it..

As above, the issue with any control is it leads you to a false sense that the car will save you. EBD, TC, can all be evil though having said that I have been thankful on at least one occasion for TC being present but that was due to me overtly being asleep behind the wheel
On more than one occasion I have found TC to cut in dangerously, the 350z was one for this in the wet when exiting junctions. On the other hand the system in the Ro is so laid back I never turn it off, it only kicks in after you are going backwards!!
Saying all that, if a car has it I leave it switched on as frankly you have to really be trying hard to provoke it, typically driving beyond an acceptable margin for the conditions. In a skillful driver this is intentional in anyone else its when they discover skill!=bravado
The only system I really like the idea of is ABS as it really can help but again having said that you can stop much quicker without it in some conditions. The recent snow for example, proved this to the OH by doing a 30-0 stop on abs then doing the same, waiting for first pulse, releasing brake and reapplying.
Frankly I believe all the extra safety cars have built in have, with the reduction in visible traff pol with the replacement of stasi cars and gatstapos resulting in the lower quality of driving we see on the roads today.
How I ever survived a 2.8i capri at the age of 18 is nothing but folk law to a modern driver!

3.0 GXL on Hollies, Offenhauser and tuned pipe here, followed by tuned Opels and other Crapis and a selection of Escorts, imps, Chevettes etc.
Still couldn't drive the bloody Honda properly for about a year though!
I would take VSA and have it off a lot, the option is nice for other less able drivers who may be in the family too.
ABS is handy on fat heavy cars, I dont like it on the Honda but at least it's not over keen like the VAG stuff, and I very rarely feel it.
