VTEC problem?
My car is a March 02, and i have covered 16500 miles, and recently noticed that the crossover into VTEC is less noticeable.
When should VTEC kick in should this be above 6000 or around 5500
It might be i am just getting more used to VTECing , but the power seems more linear than before.
The only time it is really noticeable is if i VTEC in 2nd ?
Has anybody else experenced this on an 02 car ?
I am going to book it in for its 18000 service so would appreciate if there are any checks i can make myself to see if VTEC is cutting in properly, or if i have to take it in for a diagnostic
Any other comments would be useful
Thanks

My car is also March 02 with 13,500 miles on the clock, and I have found the same.
My VTEC kicks in at 6,000 RPM as it always has.
I can understand what you're saying, about only 2nd gear being noticeable, 1st goes by pretty quickly and if you're accelerating hard then you don't drop out of VTEC after the 2nd to 3rd gear change.
I also think the changeover is more linear than it was but I'm not too fussed about this because I know my car is noticeably quicker now than it was when new.
Just to throw some uncertainty into the mix, I recently took a soon to be owner out for a spin and he thought that the changeover was very noticeable when I mentioned this to him, so there could be a factor of getting used to it, as I assume you drive yours every day like myself.

My VTEC engagement in very noticeable, particularly in first and second.
I took a guy out in it recently, he's a motor engineer. He'd taken an F20C to pieces and seen how it worked but never driven with one. He spotted the changeover straight away.

I still feel VTEC but I`m convinced you get used to it.
Only tonight, on my way to meet Noony, I overtook a Fiesta. I accel`d and thought the same, I`m getting used to it. Then I look down and it says 92, ooops.
Its a very fast car.
