Default VTECing

VTEC or not to VTEC that is the question...!

iI sure all you s2g owners will agree its a tough decision..

I bought my first s2000 last week. After much deliberation i went to look at a '99 japanese import with 6k.

My first test drive left me week at the knee's..i vtecd in 1st 2nd and 3rd; left small roundabouts sideways changing into 2nd, and generally abused the privilege of the test drive!

Following that with glazed eyes and a trembling hand i gleefully wrote an adequate cheque.

The next weekend i drove the car home for my dad (co-owner).

I took the M1 from north London to Morpeth. yes - bork ..watch out for indy yellow by far the fastest colour!{except when my old man is piloting}

After leaving motor way services i vtec'd in 1st 2nd 3rd and shifted into 4th; with rapidly increasing roof noise, vigilantly aware i kept accerating to what i presumed was a slightly premature rev limit around 120mph.

The loss of power inspired a quick "engine gone" look in the mirrors to recieve the all clear to go again in 5th.. the car momentarily accerated to 122mph where again the car lost all power.. at this point i started to suspect the possiblity of my new arch nemesis..shifted to 6th, accerated again to confirm my fears of a speed limiter and yes at 122mph again it halted !

i thought the poor japanese had their civil rights infringed at 112mph not 122mph...

well aside from that the car is great... and i like this website too.. loads of interesting articles...

i will be inserting a few photos soon guys

You can remove that quite easily. Many firms provide that service.

Sadly, only if you're a member .

& happy VTECing. I bet you had the speedo set to kmph rather than mph - otherwise you'd have been breaking the law

I use to have an FSO bought straight from Japan - I think it cost be a smidgen over a ton to get the speedo converted to miles/Hr. (oh and was asked what mileage travelled I wanted it to show), get it derestricted (2 controls on the old Mitsubishi) and get the radio frequency convertor.

Check out that the filler kneck is UK'd as well.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to this strange but friendly world.

I wish to challenge Chris Type R, I can post pictures and I am not a member. Maybe I shouldn't be saying this in case of error, but hey I'm an honest kinda guy.

Can anyone say for sure whether none members can post piccies?

I take that you mean FTO, FSO's were (are) really crap Polish wrecks in a similar vein to the Trabant
