Default Weird engine noise

Would you guys and gals please check this out and tell me what could be causing the noise. This is NOT my car but I promised to help a fellow owner.

Other than the usual tappety sound, all I can here is a faint and intermittent knock-knocking sound; is that what you are referring to?

Is that engine cold? Mine makes that slight sound. It's perfectly normal apparently and disappears when up to operating temperature. I've listened to a few that make that noise too.

Hmmm, that feint knocking sound in the background isn't normal I wouldn't think. Not sure what it is but I know mine sure doesn't do that...

I was concerned about that noise too but I have listened to two other 04>S2k's and they both do it. Mines done it since 8.5k and now has 49k on it. If its still there at operating temperature it MAY be an issue.

I've never heard mine make that intermittant knocking noise, but never listened closely to the engine bay when cold either. Other than the knocking noise, it sounds pretty much the same as mine.

I have heard a few S2k's like this, seems to be a possible small piston slap type noise that completely vanishes once warm. Not seen any adverse affects due to the noise, but a computer speaker is not best for listening to engine noises.

Never heard it on mine for what it's worth. I have a 2003. Sounds like a heavy/solid component though.

Chad.
