Can I ask you describe your clutch buzz/noise?

Is it all the time?
Only when the transmission has warmed up?
Restricted to certain gears/revs?
Where does the noise eminiate (from the back of the dash?)

I have a hideous buzz at 3.5-4.5k, mainly in 3rd, from the back of the dash, transmission related as it dies immeadiately the clutch is put in. As an 04 I hope this did not afflict this model but I fear it is the springs resonating on the friction plate I have tightened up the dash as the two bolts one on either side were very loose but no joy and it is a damn awkward job to remove the dashboard hence the clutch questions.

Brayley have changed 3 clutches for me in the past.

They will do a good job and know to use new sub frame stretch bolts.

It's a pretty well documented issue Lusaka_MG (even admitted by Honda themselves) on older S2's (MY02 backwards I think) where the clutch drones or 'buzzes' very loudly as it gets older when you take your foot off of the gas at anything between 2.5 and 4.5k. The droning get's worse with age and causes slight vibration and general annoyance to all involved. It's a shame because the clutch still performs well - i.e it's not slipping - but it becomes a question of how annoying\ loud it becomes. In my case it't done 52k now and is driving me mental and slightly ruins my enjoyment of the car.

As to the location of the noise? Well the clutch region really. The buzzing can vibrate parts of the car - like the spare change I keep in the glove box - but I guess it could vibrate the dash a little if really bad.

Hope this helps.

You may be able to reduce the price a little if you source the clutch yourself. Labour for this job is big, the engine and gearbox need to be dropped

A cheaper alternative if you are happy to drive up to Atherstone would be to get Chris Franklin to do it and be his grease monkey for the day. He has done Six gearbox/clutch changes so far including mine

Crikey, we reduce the price a couple of hundred pounds for the forum members and people are still critical, us dealers just cannot win.

Where could he source the clutch from and end up with a bill for less. (Oh just remembered, Mr Clutch is just around the corner..........)

Good video, shame it is not longer.
I trust they replaced the flywheel as well as that was also damaged.

What people forget is that you should also replace the sub frame bolts at the same time, not re-use the original. 6 bolts, 3 different sizes and about
