Default What Coilovers

I've had my S2000 for 3 weeks now

I've put some 18" wheels on it and it looks gorgeous but sits to high

so i;m thinking of getting some coilovers to lower it but dont want to ruin the handling or performance

Can anyone suggest any coilovers (Soft springs of poss)

Thanks In Advance

Dan

Too late.

Bilsteins (much better than Nitrons).

Ditch the 18's and get a wheel size which works with the car.

Lowering means other mods to ensure your geo is good. See my sig.

Hello G375 DAN

I remember this problem well!

Most of the reading here will tell you that if you have 18s and you lower the car, you will probably get some rubbing issues (tire to plastic wheelarch liner or, even worse, tire to wheelarch), depending on whether you've changed the rolling diameter, got the correct offsets etc.

If you have a larger rolling diameter (overall wheel size), it also puts your speedo out of sync (larger circumference, more distance travelled, lower indicated speed).

If you have the wrong offsets the wheel may stick out of the arch and look silly, or they sit too far inboard and rub on your suspension.

And as PL mentioned above you will need a geometry adjustment!

To be able to answer your question more effectively, what 18" wheels do you have?

Just realised that Brian's comments on the Bilsteins aren't in my Nitron thread, but instead his comments are in my initial suspension thread.

Bilsteins are good not not great

I think my sig should be the alternative technical FAQ Steven

My 18" have low profile tyres so the rolling diameter hasn't changed

Would this still affect handling or performance? (Apart from weighing a bit more)
