There's a fair bit of depth to the speaker 'hole', but my recommendation would be make some 3/4'' MDF mounting plates to give you even more clearance. You can then consider 5.25 speakers as well as 6.5's. I've done this - it's very easy - and run 5.25'' as they are known to 'sing' better than the 6.5'' versions.

Sorry - doesn't really answer your question but hopefully it opens up your speaker choice.

Oli.

DBM, no speakers that I am aware of (came from a similar position as you) drop straight in. They all need some sort of adapter. You can get then for fitting stock sized speakers or make them yourself out of MDF.

One of the ICE peeps will be along shortly.

HTH,

Thanks all,

My days of stereo fiddling are over hence I wanted some drop in ones. If spacers are the best option Ill take it to the local rip off stereo place to get them fitted, and fit the HU myself!

How lazy have I become!

Very very hard to find 6.25" speakers that will drop in so go for 6.5" components. Make an MDF adaptor and the tweeters on the A pillar.
I would recomend Boston Acoustics ~

Mark,

I had a full install at the weekend and found out I already had some Lucid deep speaker adapters already in - so i've got a spare set if you want to buy something a bit more professional.

PM if interested.

I dropped in some cheapo Kenwood KFC 1666s. Literally.

They're not high-end, admittedly, but wastly better than stock.

TBH, high-end is probably a CWOT in a car as (pleasantly!) noisy as the S2000!

E-bay! Get yourself some top JL audios from the US. Half the price of what you will pay in the UK and will sound fantastic!
