Default What gear for dyno's

Okay was just thinking...

What gear do people use when doing a dyno ?

Now i have 4.57r gears and various other mods, so its different from stock ratio.

I used to do them in 6th but realised 5th seemed to be better, but now i read people do them in 4th and even 3rd, I've never done a run in any other gear apart from 5th and 6th.

I know 5th yields a highier figure (fly/flywheel) than 6th, does the same apply for 4 as opposed to 5th?

I did a run in 5th when it was IIRC 18c ambient = 251BHP max and 166ft lb torque, if i did this in 4th then it would produce highier figures? - either way best to get a delta with same situations .

Maybe this is why the yanks get high figures?

mine was always done in 4th

the yank figures are not really all that much higher, most are the same they just have many different dynos that read slightlly different plus fueling

the ones who have dyno'd on dyno dymanics are generally the same as here in the uk

They use a different bhp standard to us too.

4th gear is generally best I have found. Never 2nd or 6th.

Ah well

Guess i got good figures in 5th then

Think we use just 'standard' correction, there bloody loads like SAE, DIN ISO etc etc.

Yeah AP2, but I'm talking about AP1's

Think the AP2 are a little more at the wheel, but not at the fly so its still 237bhp.

I think the gear ratio's are different but final drive is still 4.10, if you look up the specs of AP2 it always quotes 237BHP and 162 torque, I'm sure honda leaned the top end out slightly too.
