Default What the hell is this?

I am honestly now at the end of my tether. As you will know, I just had my clutch replaced after a failure on the ring.

I have just lifted my bonnet and found in the K&N heatshield this:

What the hell is it and where should it be??

I called the guys who fitted the clutch. They did tell me when they first called to say the clutch was done, that there was a wiring loom and pipes not properly secured (must have been when my new lump was fitted - really p***ed of with mechanic) When I picked up this morning, they didnt show me as it wasnt one of the guys that worked on my car that handed over.

The guy I have just spoken to who did work on my car told me that this was loose and in effect hanging from the engine. He put it in the heatshield as he thought this would be the safest place where it wouldnt move the most. He does not know what it is or what it does. As you can see in the pic, it is attached to a rubber pipe and if you pull the pipe off of the plastic bit, there is suction from it.

Pls help me, ive had enough of problems with my S

I think it hangs onto the standard Airbox IIRC.

Cant remember what it does, something air intake related.

Cue MB.....

I'm sure it resides towards the bottom of the airbox IIRC its near the crossmember bit you can see in under the bonnet.

IIRC the vac lines pass to and from this and attach onto it, also there's a bit where it passes into and out of it.

With the k&n fipk (which i have) it should be sitting near the cross member bit, have a look

IIRC there will be two pipes (vac lines) from where the injectors reside, one passes onto the black cylinder other go's to that block you have.

Unlucky about your problems with the car fella @thumbwn:

G'day Tim,

Take a look in engine bay on the cross beam running across the car, in the middle on the back is a very small bracket that, that thing bolts too.

It is in the middle on the back of the cross beam.

I'd take a picture, but camera is flat.

Take a look you can't missing it

Cheers
