wheel cap refinish
Hi all
As my wheel caps looked pretty sorry for themselves, I decided to have a go at refinishing them. Although I considered the primer + paint solution, I thought I would have a go at obtaining a brushed finish instead, and I am pretty happy with the result, I thought I would share...
This is how they looked before I started

Tools required for the job:
Sand paper 80, 280, and some brasso.

All the rest is pretty obvious... start with 80, then 280, and then use the Brasso to obtain a polished finish, and avoid any sand paper marks

Now the key step, to obtain a brushed finished. Just use the 280 sand paper, and rub in one direction only, with parallel strokes, to obtain a nice even finish. If you mess it up you can just polish and start again...

This is the final result, after application of a Honda sticker (purchased from Stickerdude.co.uk - seems great)
I think it looks great and I am very pleased with it as I could not bring myself to pay the price for the OEM Honda parts...

Nice job. If my center caps ever got to where yours condition, I would just dip it. I am probably going to dip it black soon because I want only 1 Honda badge in the front. The rest could disappear so only a small part of the population would know what car it is.
